Cindy Chambers Johnson is the author of Russell Wrestles the Relatives (Aladdin, 2018), a Texas Library Association "2 X 2" pick for 2019-2020. As a child, Cindy’s favorite things were camping, and listening to the grown-ups tell family stories.  She studied biology so she could become a park ranger and camp full-time, but her first genetics class steered her down the path of genetic counseling, which is all about family stories.  It’s no surprise that her debut picture book was about family. Although she now lives far away from most of her relatives, she is pleased to have found a writing “family” in Iowa where she is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
